4. Connecting Theme

Young Black Men in Harlem

A third theme is that of young Black men in Harlem. The author is presenting the situation that exists for these boys who are growing up in the middle of poverty, crime, and hopelessness. They often make the wrong choices, because they have few positive role models, and they see themselves as destined for prison.

3.Justice or Injustice

I think Monster Myers is justice, because Those criminals in this book have been the punishment they deserve, rather than be acquitted, or if the book Monster Myers is injustice, there will be no justice, there would be no police. so I think the world of this book which is a legal society,it mean the justice.

2.Identify and Sort

                                                                          Monster

So I think the five most important elements of this book are: characters, setting, theme, and conflict. (I have to complete..)

Setting:
-The story takes place in Manhattan and Harlem, New York city, mostly in a city lockup, but sometimes in the neighborhood where Steve Harmon lives.

characterization:
-Steve, O'Brien, Briggs, Petrocelli, King, The Judge, Jose, Zinzi, Blden, Bobo Evans, Cruz.

Theme:
- Introspection: Steve must come to terms with his own identity. He accomplishes this throughout the novel in his journal entries which he makes during his time in jail awaiting trial.
Peer Pressure: This theme is the basis for how he ended up in his current situation. Had he not given into the peer pressure by James King he wouldn’t have been involved with the robbery that led to the death of the store clerk.
Humanity: Steve is called a "monster" by the Prosecutor at the beginning of the novel and Steve grapples with the question of whether or not he is monstrous for his actions in the robbery. He is constantly reflecting upon this in his journal entries. The word can also be found scribbled faintly and scratched out on pages of the novel itself.

Conflict:
-The main conflict in "Monster" is was he in the wrong place at the wrong time.

1.First Post

Hi! My name is Anderson Guo.

I like to read comic book, like ONE PIECE, BLEACH and FAIRY TAIL that kind of books I was read right now, but i don't have too much time to read them, so i just can read them one week at once.

The last two books I read is 《Oliver Twist》 and 《The Da Vinci Code》. The 《Olive Twist》 is about is about an orphan who runs away from an orphanage because he got in trouble for asking for more food. He ends up living with a group of boys that are trained professionals at pickpocketing by an old mentor. Oliver ends up getting in trouble but catches a bad man and earns tons of money. Oliver then becomes really rich and becomes a great grandfather.

The 《The Da Vinci Code》is most other thriller, "The Da Vinci Code" as a start to a homicide.Day night 10:46, respected curator Jacques Sauniere in the Louvre was gunned down clues to solve the case in order to leave his granddaughter Sophie, curator put up Finn before deathodd paintings "Witt rubi" posture. Harvard University religion professor of semiotics at Langdon was introduced to the story and uncover the the heavy mystery of responsibility fell on his shoulders. In order to find the murderer, Langdon and Sophie together, from France, has been traced to the United Kingdom, they found the opponent not only a murderer, and you want them to arrest the police, and there is an existing Priory of Sion, the secret society of 1000 years , as well as Catholic conservative organization Opus Dei. Behind the homicide, is the biggest secret of Western civilization, some of which has been hidden 2000 years. I really like this two books, but I like the 《The Da Vinci Code》 more.
